Update…Injury, Vacation, and College Prep
Sorry, it has been so long since my last post. Since my last post, I have enrolled back into college taking two courses this upcoming semester, camped under the stars with family, vacationed at an indoor waterpark with family, worked, and recovered from a slight lower back injury.
In one of my past posts, I mentioned my exercise routine is up in the air, I discussed my experience starting SEALFIT again. Since then, I have continued SEALFIT which is what led to my lower back injury. Yes, even I get injured. I believe it was too much stress too quickly, almost like a shin splint injury. Running too much when just beginning can cause shin splints. SEALFIT is a lot of full body work and I went into the workout with a tight back already.
With a tight back and my workout only minutes from being finished, a 95-pound power clean sent a jolt of pain up my spine and I immediately stopped, stretched lightly and went home to ice it. Knowing I was leaving the next day for a family vacation I knew I had to get busy with recovery. I applied ice routinely for the following 24 hours and took a NSAID. Within a few days, I was back to pain-free movement.
This week I have continued SEALFIT but with skipping the stamina portion. Reduces my workout by 30 minutes and is less stress on my body right now. Although I feel much better my back still needs a light load for a little.
Enough about me though, I want to know how my readers are doing! I will be posting informational posts in the near future so stay tuned.
